Code of Ethics

  1. Superior Family Health Team will strive to provide the best possible care and service to all patients and will adhere to the highest professional and ethical standards.
  2. Superior Family Health Team will adhere to the Standards of Practice as set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the College of Nurses of Ontario and all other governing bodies.
  3. Superior Family Health Team will comply with existing municipal, provincial and federal legislation and regulations for health care personnel and services.
  4. Superior Family Health Team will ensure that all physicians hold a degree in medicine under the Medicine Act, 1991 and that they are insured. All other employees will have current licences from their governing bodies if applicable.
  5. Superior Family Health Team will follow confidentiality requirements that meet (PHIPA) the Personal Health Information Protection Act, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice.
  6. Superior Family Health Team will ensure that all employees recognize and respect the patient’s right to privacy and will not disclose any medical, personal, or financial information unless so authorized by the patient or his/her representative.
  7. Superior Family Health Team will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of its patients and employees.
  8. Superior Family Health Team will actively participate with community agencies towards the development, implementation and evaluation of improved standards of patient care.
  9. Superior Family Health Team will work to secure and coordinate any necessary resources and additional services required to provide patients with optimal care.
  10. Superior Family Health Team will fully investigate all client concerns and complaints in a timely manner.
  11. Superior Family Health Team will not practice any form of discrimination on the basis of age, gender, race, religion, family or marital status, place of origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation.
  12. Superior Family Health Team will not tolerate any form of patient or employee abuse.
